Gutted ain't the word for me. A band who I was fond of that I became really good friends with. Despite the anger and the bridges he burnt over the years, he always had time for the fans. Thoughts with all the fans and musicians he shared a studio/stage with. R.I.P #refuseamen
I saw Amen a few times back in the day. What really stuck with me, more than their great songs, or their excellent, crazy, live shows, was the way they made time for their fans. And I don't mean if you saw them at a bar beforehand or if you waited around afterwards, no! They'd always come off stage, hang out, sign autographs, do pictures and have a chat. Casey was a wild man, but he was also a lovely bloke. Would that there were more like him.
Very glad I got to see Amen back in the day. He jumped off a PA stack and looked like he broke his ankle.
Few years back when I was in LA I commented to a mate, wondering if we would see Casey wandering around as I heard he was always out and about. Literally 5 minutes later our taxi stopped at light near Venice Beach and Casey crossed the street directly in front of us.
